Tasty and refreshing Straight 8 Cucumbers have become one of the world's most popular vegetables to grow in the home garden. Straight 8 cucumbers are easy to grow, and produce an abundance of tender fruit throughout the summer. The elongated fruits of the Straight 8 variety are perfect for salads and other fresh uses. Small young Straight 8 cucumbers can be used for pickling.

When and Where to Plant Your Straight 8 Cucumber Seeds


Select a sunny, well drained location and sow your Straight 8 cucumber seeds in the late spring when the soil is warm and all danger of frost is past. For an earlier crop of Straight 8 cucumbers, start your seeds indoors using a good grow light setup, about four to six weeks before you can move your Straight 8 cucumber plants outdoors. For best results, loosen the soil with a spade or pitchfork and feed with a good organic vegetable fertilizer. Smooth and firm the soil with a rake. Make sure you keep the soil moist

How to Harvest Your Straight 8 Cucumbers

You can pick your Straight 8 cucumbers at any size, but try not to allow them to get longer than six to eight inches to avoid allowing them to get too "seedy". By picking your Straight 8 cucumbers continually from the vine, your plants will keep on producing for quite a while.
